If you have not read George Orwell's dystopian masterpiece, now would be a great time to do so. Never has his novel been so prescient. When I look at the people who our President has appointed to cabinet positions, all I can think of is this line from 1984:
The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from from ordinary hypocrisy: they are deliberate exercises in doublethink.
When you have a leader who is actively trying to discredit our journalistic institutions, while simultaneously lying about voter fraud it's hard not to ask ourselves what Orwell would have thought about all of this.
